The plan of our conference

Horizons 2016 was the first conference conducted at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń by Doctoral Students Association. The conference, which took place on October 20, 2016, gave a great opportunity for young scholars and researchers to share and discuss their research interests pertaining to an eponymous theme – horizons – exploring an unknown areas in research on the English language, literature and culture.

During the conference, we had the honour to listen to a plenary lecture entitled „Allies or Enemies? The Representation of "Black" Soldiers in Recent  First World War Fiction in English and French” delivered by Professor Anna Branach-Kallas who discussed the position of black soldiers during the First World War and their representation in fiction.

We would like to thank all participants for their engagement and a wonderful atmosphere. It was a great pleasure to attend your presentations!

Here you can find a couple of pictures from the conference.
